Claude Code has Remote Control to follow a session from your phone, but you have to turn it on before leaving the computer. Remote Sessions works the other way around: from your phone you see all your conversations, read the latest messages and, with one tap, the computer resumes the one you pick with Remote Control and opens it in the Claude app.
It has two parts. A small Go server that runs on the computer (macOS, Linux or Windows) as a background service, and native iOS and Android apps. They pair by scanning a QR code that carries the certificate fingerprint, so conversations travel encrypted straight from the computer to the phone, with no accounts or servers in between. Away from home it works over Tailscale.
Install the server
On macOS:
brew install antoniolg/tap/remote-sessions && remote-sessions setup
On Linux (or macOS without Homebrew):
curl -fsSL https://antonioleiva.com/remote-sessions/install.sh | sh
On Windows, from PowerShell:
irm https://antonioleiva.com/remote-sessions/install.ps1 | iex
setup starts the service and shows the QR code for the app. You need Claude Code logged in with a Claude subscription: Remote Control doesn’t work with an API key.
Remote Sessions is not an official Anthropic app.
Lessons learned
Remote Control doesn't start with `claude --bg`: it needs a real terminal. The server ended up opening each session in its own pseudo-terminal, which also works the same on Windows.
